BROKEN SCORE: A STRATIFIED LANDSCAPE

a collection of works and performances using live sound activated by movement and contact, intertwined with 2-way radio transmitted signal recordings and live internal loops layered on top of one another.

'Feet on the ground ear to the ground' -

This collection of works uses notions of sculptural hacking; a hacking of the objects' reality and status by modifying it at the structural level, as a way of receiving sound and information. Its creating symbiosis between poetry, hacking, and sound by altering the syntax of the reality of objects in the same way. the potential of immersion and non-linearity; In chaotic, complex systems, there are underlying patterns and constant feedback loops of self-organization, flowing out of a network of processes, systematically working together.

Exploring ‘deep listening’; the magnification of sonic micro events, discovering the potentials of instrumentation and awareness of our sonic, acoustic environments; activating voices from each space. Exploring notions of the hacking of objects and systems of the ‘un-sound’ and of their language, reflecting on its relationship with the liquid non-linearity of its spatial and ecological language. The ritualistic processes and somatic immersion involved in a deep concentration and tunnel-listening speaks of sound’s powerful potentialities for binding groups together, and the bonds and action that can come from it.
